Hi! My family and I were camping at the Akeley City Campground two weekends ago. We always love our stay,we come back each year for our family vacation. When we were staying there my mother saw a little building that she would like to have. She talked to Greg, the man that runs the campground,he said that he would ask about her getting it. It is the building by the office at the campground. Greg said that it was the old pump house. My mother would really love to have it if she could. I thought I would email you because I didn't know who else to contact. I do not know if you could help me but if you can not I would appreciate it if you could let someone know that could. I see the "Picture of the Week" on your website: 1900 Pleasant Ave. and First Street, Akeley, MN. Recently I traveled through Akeley, however it was evening and I was unable to do any research, unfortunately. What year was the Methodist church replaced with the new building (is it the same site?). Charles C. Lorenz, my great-grandfather, worked at the Akeley School (abt.1912-1920's); Charles and Paulina lived on Pleasant Ave., Akeley. I don't have an address other than the census listed their house as #53 on Pleasant Ave., Akeley Village. They attended the Akeley M E Church, as did the family of my grandparents, Leroy and Mabel (Lorenz) McAliley. Leroy McAliley was employed as cashier and ticket agent at the Great Northern Depot in Akeley beginning abt.1907, working with Mr. Rabbitt. I am very pleased to see this photo, and wish I had a copy of it! I would like to return to Akeley to visit your town, to explore and research, though it cannot be soon. Can you tell me where I can obtain photos/information on 1900 -1930 in Akeley? Who to Contact by Phone? Thank you....  7/28/2007

Last year during the 2006 Paul Bunyan Days festival, one of the attractions you had for the kids were pony rides. I spoke with the owner/operator of the pony rides and he said that he travels to do birthday parties as well. He gave me a business card at the time but I cannot locate it. Hello, My grandparents Rose and Ralph Hurlburt had a resort on 10th for years "Ralphs East Shore Cabins" as a young boy that was our vacation spot every year. I have not been there for 20 years. The resort has been sold off in pieces I would sure like to find someone willing to rent out their home or cabin for 1 week during summer of 2007 so I can share this special place with my wife and 2 children now as did for many years.
