AKELEY CITY COUNCIL

SPECIAL MEETING

MAY 16, 2007

9:00 AM CITY HALL

The Akeley City Council met in a special meeting Wednesday May 16, 2007 at 9:00 am.  Mayor Tom Moore called the meeting to order.  Council members present were Tom Moore, Frank Lamb, Eric Sjolin, Cliff Johnson and Brian Hitchcock.  Tony Poncelet was present during the interview process.  The Pledge of Allegiance was recited by the Council and attending audience.

Motion by Brian Hitchcock seconded by Frank Lamb and carried to approve agenda.

Frank Thelin was interviewed by the Council and Tony Poncelet at 9:00 AM.

Dennis Peterson was interviewed by the Council and Tony Poncelet at 9:45 AM.

Dan Diethert was interviewed by the Council and Tony Poncelet at 10:30 AM.

Discussion was held after the interviews to determine who would be offered the position and how much the salary would be.  Tony Poncelet left the meeting after making his recommendation to the council in the following order:  Daniel Diethert, Dennis Peterson and Frank Thelin.

Motion by Frank Lamb seconded by Brian Hitchcock and carried to approve to hire Daniel Diethert dependant on salary.  Eric Sjolin opposed.

Motion by Brian Hitchcock seconded by Eric Sjolin and carried to approve to offer $14.00 per hour, salary negotiable after one year probation, insurance available after ninety days and all other benefits as stated in the Employee Handbook.

Motion by Eric Sjolin seconded by Brian Hitchcock and carried to approve to offer the job to Frank Thelin if refused by Dan Diethert at $14.00 with 1 year probation, insurance available after ninety days and all other benefits as stated in the Employee Handbook.  Frank Lamb and Tom Moore opposed.

A physical and drug/alcohol test will be required by the person accepting the position.

Motion by Frank Lamb seconded by Brian Hitchcock and carried to adjourn.
