The Akeley City Council met in a work session Wednesday, November
21, 2007 at 10:00 AM. Tom Moore called the meeting to order.
Members present were Tom Moore, Eric Sjolin, Brian Hitchcock and
Cliff Johnson. Frank Lamb arrived at 10:10 AM. The Pledge of
Allegiance was recited by the Council and attending audience.
The Council reviewed the General, Maintenance, and Police Budgets
for 2008. Denise Rittgers, Frank Thelin and Eric Klein were present
to discuss with the Council, any changes that could be made to the
budgets in regards to their departments in order to lower the levy.
From the General Account, Dues and Subscriptions were reduced from
$2,500.00 to $1,800.00 and Training and Education was reduced from
$1,500.00 to $1,000.00, changing the General Levy Amount from
$62,252.00 to $61,052.00.
The Maintenance Account remained the same since it was believed it
could not be reduced any more.
From the Police Account, Payroll Expense was reduced from $70,000.00
to $65,000.00 and Vehicle Expense / Repairs was reduced from
$11,000.00 to $10,000, changing the Police Levy Amount from
$84,500.00 to $78,500.00
The Levy Grand Total was reduced from $220,852.00 to $213,652.00.
Frank Lamb and Brian Hitchcock both left the meeting at 12:02 PM.

made by Eric Sjolin seconded by Tom Moore and carried to adjourn.
