The Akeley City Council met in a work session Friday, August 28,
2009 at 8:00 AM. Mayor Scott Vettleson called the meeting to
order. Council members present were Jennifer Mitchell, Troy Hegg
and Cliff Johnson. Jon Johnson was absent. The Pledge of
Allegiance was recited by the Council and attending audience.
The council reviewed the maintenance budget adding additional costs
for attorney’s fees, gravel for the roads and maintenance on the
water tower since it will need to be cleaned and painted in the next
year or two.
The mayor also suggested increasing Frank Thelin’s wage and Denise
Rittgers’ wage each by 50¢ in the coming year since he stated that
in comparison to other towns Frank is underpaid and since Denise has
completed her 3rd year of clerks training he felt she was
entitled to a raise as well.
Maintenance on the City building was also discussed since the front
may need to be re-stained and sealed and the poles in front will
have to be repainted. There is also a gap in the roof on the west
side of the building in need of repair.

by Cliff Johnson seconded by Jennifer Mitchell and carried to
adjourn at 8:45 AM.
