Subject: Lake assoc. meeting Sept 24
Hey neighbors -- just thought we could get together for fall meeting on Saturday, September 24.

How about meeting at our resort (Crow Wing Crest Lodge)  in Cabin #3, the A-Frame.   Why?   Am thinking we could take advantage of being so close to the lake ---- for anyone who would like to, let's meet up around 9:30 AM at the resort, and take a slow ride on our pontoon boats to look for Curly Leaf Pondweed and view the culvert area.   (We have two pontoon boats, room for 10 peeps in each boat).    Thought this could be not only a bit of a social time, but fun, and purposeful at the same time.  (Anyone on the upper NE basin who would like us to pick you up at your dock, just zip me an e-mail :) .)   Sidenote: anyone wanting to throw a fishing line out the back while we troll, fine with me --- just no flinging hooks into anybody's hair, OK?  :)

Official meeting starts at 10:30 a.m. - 12:30   I'll have the coffee on.

I will send out another e-mail in the next week with the agenda.

In the meantime, I know the fisheries committee have made some phone calls this summer, if you guys need to get together again to talk about a plan in order to present to everyone else for approval, get to gettin'.  Otherwise just a report should be fine.

Highway 64 committee - - have any of you gotten together since spring meeting or spoken to each other about action items?  (dust on ATV trail?  getting rumble strips modified? organizing community visioning session for bridge replacement?)

Aquatic Invasive Species --- will want to check in with all of you who've been dealing with CLP.  It's been a struggle again this year for us personally -- spring weather really aggravated the issue, I think.  THose of you dealing with CLP who aren't coming to meeting on 24th, can you zip me a couple sentences about your experience this summer so I can share with others at meeting?   (have lots of chemical leftover, still need personpower to help manage, report on a couple of guys who several of us paid to hand rake/pull up vegetation, etc.)

Akeley Campgrounds Erosion Control project -- is there any interest in continuing this?  Seems stalled.

Solie Bay re-vegetation/erosion control - those of you living in Solie Bay:   did the new NO WAKE marker buoys donated by Sheriff's department help keep boat traffic down this summer?    (Report at meeting, or zip me a note I can read to everyone at meeting.)  I am also wondering if the campgrounds manager handed out the Boat Etiquette and Stop Aquatic Hitchhkers flyers to campers and if it did any good?    I also posted same flyers in all the bathrooms in campgrounds this spring -- did any of you on the lower SW basin of 11th feel like boaters were a little less . . . . . .hmmmmm . . . .reckless?  this summer?   Any difference from last year?

Loon Nest Committee -- how did you think the nest sites went this summer?

Website:  Before meeting in a couple of weeks, any of you who can do so, please visit our new 10th & 11th Crow Wing Lakes Association website and bring feedback to meeting on how website committee can improve or link it better.    http://www.crowwing11.org

OK -- this is just to give you all a "heads up" on what we'll be yakking about at the meeting in a couple of weeks.   Any of you who know you won't be able to make the meeting, again feel free to zip me a note to check-in about any of the issue above.   NOTE:    I may NOT RESPOND IMMEDIATELY as I am busier than a one-armed paper hanger at the moment, every cabin we have will be occupied next week/weekend for a retreat and I am burnt out at the moment from end-of-season exhaustion.   Just know I will get back to you eventually and am really hoping to see you at the meeting in two weeks.  I'll be less cranky then, too.  Promise.

Enjoy this perfect weather and calm waters . . . . .:)
