doors. Designated June 16 and 17 as “Meet your Neighbor on the Lake”
weekend, will be distributing Lake Association info, newsletter, and
curly leaf pondweed handouts. Goal is to increase interest and
membership in the Lake Association.

Joel Abraham gave an update on the COLA Water Clarity Report. 11th
Crow Wing water clarity tested at 9-18 feet. With the average being 13
feet, and ranked 18th out of 44 Hubbard County Lakes tested.
Phosphorus tested at 12.2. Ranking 7

Discussed Lake Association potluck. With no new date suggested, we may
have the potluck the 3rd Saturday in September following the Lake
Association meeting.
Nitrate Water testing of well water will be done free of charge at the
Hubbard Town Hall on June 16, in the morning. Refrigerated water sample
in plastic bag is acceptable for testing.
Loon nests
We have 1 loon nest that is in decent condition and is located at
the west end of 11th Crow Wing. Loon nest committee will address
maintenance and repair of the other 3 nests.
Culvert
Lisa Hansen read a newspaper article from the Nevus Newspaper that
ran this past spring. She e-mailed County Engineer Jim Bitman who
responded to her that the $250,000.set aside for the culvert was
diverted to finish projects that the county already had started. No new
funds are being considered for the project at this time. We will have
to start the process again if we want to get this back on the schedule.
Recommendation was made that President Richard Willhaus draft a letter
to the County Engineer, DOT and possibly the DNR regarding the culvert
situation. It was also recommended all directors of the Lake Association
sign the letter. Motion made by Joel Abraham and seconded by Chip
Hansen.
Presentation by Doug Kingsley, DNR Area Fisheries Manager
Doug reported that Walleye stocking is done every other year. We
discussed restriction of large mouth Bass. Nothing definite was
decided. Doug suggested members visit the DNR website to see current
lake surveys and stocking history. Interested members can join MN
Waters to learn about our lakes and what we can do to preserve them.
Also COLA has an Invasive Species Task Force which assists local Lake
Associations in identifying and treating invasive species.
New Business.
It was recommended that ALL members be alert when boating or fishing
and watch for invasive species such as the Curly Pond Leaf.
Future Business
Lisa Hansen and Phil Busch recommend that we discuss what should be
done with money in the Bridge Fund. To be discussed at the next Lake
Association meeting.
Meeting was adjourned.
Volunteers assisted in Curly Pond Leaf round-up at the Crow Wing Crest
Resort. We will be doing roundup 3 successive Saturdays in May.
September
16, 2006 Minutes
The second bi-annual meeting of the
10-th 11th Crow Wing Lake Association met at 10 o’clock
on September 16, 2006 at the Crow Wing Crest Resort. Meeting was
called to order by President Frank Lamb, Sr.
First order of business was on the
Loon Nests. Only one of the nests is being used
according to reports. Some of them need minor repair or
improvements.
The treasurer’s report was given and
approved with a balance of $1516.09 in the general fund and $5225.00
in the bridge fund.
Rich Willhaus gave a
report on
Lake Monitoring.
He stated according to tests done that the lake is in good shape but
we should not just sit back and do nothing. He suggested we have a
lake management plan but you need very dedicated people to make it
happen.
The bridge issue
came up again and it looks like it will take legislative action. If
you are really interested in getting some action, it is suggested
that you talk to your own legislator and explain to them the
problem.
Next order of business was
election of officers. Finally! Rich Willhaus was elected
President; Gary Hendricks continues as vice president, Susan Walter
was elected secretary and Lisa Hanson continues as treasurer. A new
Board of Directors will be elected at the May 2007 meeting.
There was concern about the amount of
dust created by four wheelers along Highway 64 where it crosses the
11th Crow Wing. What can be done?
John Bowen brought his concern forward
regarding regulation to help increase bass fishing.
Motion made, seconded, and passed that the Association back John in
his endeavor to get regulation passed.
DNR officer Doug
Kingsley gave a power point presentation on curly leaf
pondweed. It is prevalent in 11th Crow Wing Lake and
very noxious. Be on the look-out for it. Heidi Wolfe is talking
about putting together a group of people that would monitor public
landing areas to make sure people are putting a clean boat and motor
in the lake and are cleaning them off when taken out.
There is a plan underway to have a
“work day” May 5th and May 19th
2007 to clean up curly leaf in 11th Crow Wing. If you
are interested, please contact one of the officers.
Meeting adjourned with pot luck to
follow.
Secretary, Phil Busch
